I believe that the two most important skills for academic and professional success in the 21st century are technology skills and multilingual fluency. These skills are connected because current technologies have made it possible for people to quickly and easily communicate and collaborate on a global scale. Multicultural understanding and cross-cultural relationships can be built and strengthened through discussions and collaborative projects on the Internet.
Parents and teachers need to prepare children to build these relationships and participate as global citizens to make the world a better place. This blog explores the uses of educational technologies to empower English language learners so they can express their opinions and demonstrate their knowledge even before full English language proficiency is attained.
